Volunteering: Keeping Our Community Strong
It is probably an understatement to say, as a community, how very fortunate we are to have such diverse, talented and committed individuals dedicated to volunteering. In the last addition of NoOW Lions listed the funds distributed to community groups. This was achieved with people volunteering as individuals or for community groups in the Lions Community Op Shop. The people who continually turn up has enabled it to operate Monday to Saturday. The good will of a very diverse group of people working cooperatively together is applauded. Thank you. To those who donate clothes and goods, thank you.
If you would like to be involved or find out more contact Noel McManus 0458 904 149.
The Car Boot Sale, breakfast BBQ, coffee van, furniture sale and Community Op Shop occurs on the first Sunday of the month all year. This event strengthens the community. The Op Shop has the best sales of the week; locals can exhibit their wares and those attending have a pleasant morning and of course great coffee and egg and bacon roll.
Lions Dinner July 24th, 2026
At the last Lions dinner our guest Donna from Donna’s Kitchen spoke about its rapid growth. A highly relevant talk reflecting the needs for the homeless and those doing it tough. The needs are significant. The Kitchen is based in Taree. It is much more than a kitchen. For more information Facebook Donna’s Kitchen. Website www.donnaskitchen.org.au.
Paul Tollis supported this when he presented a certificate to Lions for supporting the Sleep Inn Bus which also provides for some of the homeless in Taree.
Bob Keenan also provided information about the production of honey and its importance as a food supply and Lion Virginia gave a brief account of her life journey and her involvement in Lions.
Hallidays Point also welcomed Ann Waldie into membership of Lions International. She was supported by her sponsor Lion Jan Thomas.
