Anzac Day Commemoration and Breakfast
A massive thank you to members who assisted with the Anzac Day preparation and implementation. The comments I’ve received have been extremely complimentary.
Thanks to James Quiring for his photographs which were taken throughout the morning, for the two Nathans who set up and dismantled the stage making life so much easier for us ‘older’ members, and to all our members who set up and prepared the breakfast in the hall. Thanks, Noel, for organising the food and also those members who provided food.

Changeover Dinner - Read Programme
Our Changeover Dinner will take place on Thursday 28th May at Black Head Surf Lifesaving Club 6:30 for 7:00pm. The cost will be $25 a head for 2 course dinner. Dress is smart casual. RSVP to me by Monday 25th May. Not only will we install the new Lions Board for 2026/2027 but we will farewell our caterers Chitta Chatta who will be heading for Streaky Bay SA to run the hotel.
EOFY Donations
At the Finance meeting we made recommendations for donations to many local groups and Lions Foundations. Treasurer Noel will send out those recommendations to members for consideration and approval by the Board at Thursday’s Board meeting. Thanks to those members who attended the Finance meeting.
Request for Assistance
We have had a number of requests for assistance. Unfortunately, they conflict with our Op Shop / Car Boot Sale. Some of these events are ones that we’ve supported for a number of years; Motorfest (7th July), Brickfest (Krambach PS 2nd August).
We’ve also been asked to assist Manning River Lions with Junior Rugby Gala in Tuncurry (6th, 7th and 8th June). I don’t want to dismiss helping but would need to know that we would have enough members available to cover all these events. I’ll be sending out an email to get an idea of which members would be available.
Lions Eye Health Program
Forster Tuncurry Lions will be conducting a training day to enable Lions members to go into schools to run a screening program which identifies possible vision problems in children. The training will take place on Tuesday 16th June in Forster which takes 2 hours. This is followed with in school screening sessions on Wednesday 9Holy Name Catholic School), Thursday (Nabiac PS) and Friday (Pacific Palms PS) 17th - 19th June. (I don’t think you need to attend every day).
In order to participate in the program an online course needs to be completed prior to attending the training and also a current WWCC (Working with Children Check) certificate. The online module takes about one and a half hours.
More information can be found at lehp.org.au
I’ll be asking for expressions of interest.
